It's what we are always asked. The pretentious answer would be, 'It's what we do'. If you can't control your creativity, extinguish your flaming desire for design, interupt the intensity you have for innovation then you're an eatsleepthinker.
In reality our Creative Director Mike Marshall wrote a letter to Design Week years ago after reading an article on the day in the life of Alan Fletcher, one of his all time design heroes. He felt quite let down, a bit like seeing your favourite celebrity revealed on reality TV as being a normal person and not who you envisaged them to be. When you discover that your superhero does not wear the suit you imagined them in it can be a let down.
In one sentence Mike discovered that Alan came to work when everyone else did, directed a team of designers and went home when everyone else did. It seemed, well, bland really. So Mike wrote a letter to Design Week. It's now lost in the annals of magazine history - if anyone can find the time to dig it out drop us a line, but don't put your back out. Somewhere in the letter whilst describing his passion for design Mike mentioned that he cannot switch off from thinking about design and he mentioned that he eat, sleeps and thinks design.
That ladies and gents, for the first time ever, is the real story behind eatsleepthink.
Over five years into eatsleepthink's evolution and we still eat, sleep and think design but we also think about a lot more things - internet for instance is now one of our leading services and illustration is a relatively new but highly exciting area we're moving into. Check out all our services in the contents section of this blog.
We've also learnt how to control our passions and understand that life has be be a happy balance between work and play. Although as a spunky young thing Mike took umbrage at Alan's work ethic he can now understand why he did what he did. You get older, and as they say you get wiser and wisdom comes from experience and at eatsleepthink we have over twenty years worth.
So if you're reading this looking for a new agency to handle your creative, or simply seeking someone to design you some leaflets why not drop us a line, talking about it never hurt anyone. We look forward to hearing from you.
